Patient experience and compliance
The BodyGuardian MINI family of mobile cardiac telemetry (MCT) and Holter monitors are fully waterproof, submersible, and repostionable, allowing your patients to swim, shower or switch placement without interrupting their study or returning to the clinic for a new monitor.
Unlike other monitors, studies initiate immediately at the time of application and the patient does not need to wait 24 hours to shower.
- Available as a patch, lead-set, or patch-like alternative for sensitive skin, MINI and MINI PLUS offers multiple placement options and more flexibility
- Patients can reposition the device as needed without ending the study
- Audible sounds are enabled if poor skin contact is detected
- The study will not end without the knowledge of your patient
Designed with patient comfort in mind, BodyGuardian remote cardiac monitors boast a variety of features and options for patients with sensitive skin, including:
Easy placement with no skin abrasion or alcohol required
Various placement options with ability to move and reposition as needed
Sensitive skin hydrocolloid strip with slightly shorter wear durations and small form factor for high patient compliance
A proprietary patch-like bridge alternative that can be used with standard electrodes and lead-set
The BodyGuardian MINI has one of the longest-lasting batteries in the industry. When used as a continuous Holter monitor, the battery can last up to 16 days. As an MCT monitor, the battery can last up to 7 days.
Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostics has a dedicated team that is fully equipped to provide home hook-up services to your patients. We offer 24/7 customer and patient support. Our standard shipment policy is 2 days while other providers may take up to 10 days.
In MCT mode, BodyGuardian MINI PLUS is the only remote cardiac monitor that has WiFi capabilities, so your patient’s study continues seamlessly even if they are in an area with poor cellular coverage.
To protect your patients from the risk of high out-of-pocket costs, we have secured broad insurance coverage and contracts with many major payers.
If your patient is experiencing financial hardship, they may be eligible for assistance based on household size and income. Please ask your patient to speak with a dedicated Boston Scientific Cardiac Diagnostics patient advocate who will assist them in understanding their benefits and guide them through our financial programs.
BodyGuardian MINI PLUS includes translations and tutorial videos in many languages to help educate patients throughout their study.
Clinic workflow
Whether you’re using BodyGuardian MINI as a Holter or BodyGuardian MINI PLUS as an MCT, we offer one solution for the patient and provider for all services. This streamlines inventory on the shelf and requires training for only one device type, allowing your staff to devote more time to patient care.
In a retrospective analysis, atrial fibrillation (AF) statistics were noted for more than 25,000+ patients who had undergone ambulatory (AECG) monitoring for at least 28 days with the BodyGuardian system in MCT mode.
Of the patients with AF, 2 of 10 had undetected AF after day 7 and 1 of 10 had undetected AF after day 14. This highlights the importance of monitoring beyond 14 days for accurate AF diagnosis and treatment.
Algorithm and data transmission
In MCT mode, BodyGuardian MINI PLUS sends every beat to the cloud without pause, interruption, or reliance on patient-triggered or auto-detected arrhythmias. It can also stream the data with WiFi capability if the patient does not have good cell coverage.
While some remote cardiac monitors continuously record arrhythmia activity, the data is only published in the end-of-service (EOS) report once the clinic receives the monitor after the study.
In contrast, BodyGuardian® MINI PLUS continuously records and monitors arrhythmias in near real-time and transmits the data at the time of cellular connection so you can review—and act on—your patient’s cardiac activity when it matters most.
